The Therapeutic Benefits of Roses
Aside from their aesthetic appeal, which contributes to the overall pleasure and feeling of well being, roses have a genuine practical use in our regimens of good health. Rose oil and rose water, derived from the flowers and rose hips, have many valuable properties. Rose oil is antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral which make it an excellent treatment for treating cuts, abrasions, burns and other skin conditions. Roses can also be used to make aromatherapeutic fragrances. Roses may have first been distilled in the 10th century in Persia. Today, most of the rose oils are still produced in that region of the world.
